The Check My Ear PEC3 Pro uses acoustic reflectometry to help detect the condition of fluid in the middle ear space, which may be an indication of Otitis Media. The unit determines the mechanical resonance characteristic of the eardrum by analyzing the reflected energy at several frequencies of a swept audio signal. The shape of the resulting frequency response curve is used to determine a Spectral Gradient Angle. The unit displays the angle and helps the medical professional determine the condition of the middle ear space. ​
